for Burns
Treatment of a burn or scald:
Cover the injured part with a dry sterilized burn dressing.
Burn is major cause of accidental death. They are caused by extremes of
temperatures (hot & cold) chemicals or radiation. Scalds are burns caused
by wet heat such as steam or hot liquids. Electricity is another cause of
burns.

Treatment
When treating a burn or scald, your aim is to cool the area
quickly prevent infection, relieve pain and minimize shock. The treatment of a
burn or scald then depends on the severity of the injury. The following
procedure is adopted for general treatment
Remove the patient from any danger such as put out flames if
his clothes are on fire.
Cool the burnt area under cool running water for at least
ten minutes.
Remove any tight clothing belts or jewelry but don’t remove
anything sticking to the burn.
Protect the burnt area by covering it with a sterile
Immobilize a badly burnt limb.
Treat for shock if necessary. If the patient becomes
unconscious, follow the ABC priorities.

for Burns: how to provide first aid for choking
Chocking occurs when the airway is partially or totally
blocked. The obstruction must remove quickly so breathing is restored. Symbols
include blueness of face; inability to speak or breathe and unconsciousness may
develop. Step by step procedure for helping choking victim is described as
under
Remove anything from the victim’s mouth with your fingers
and get him to cough the obstruction out.
If this is unsuccessful, make him bend over so his head is
lower than his chest. Slap him firmly between the shoulder blades with the heel
of your hand; repeat four time.
If the object has not removed, try abdominal thrusts. Check
inside of his mouth again, if you can see the obstruction, hook it out with
your fingers.
If the victim is still choking, repeat back slaps, up to
four times each. Victim may begin breathing at any stage; when he does, sit him
up and given him sips of water.
How to treat cuts and abrasions.
Ointment or oil should not be used for a First Aid. Apply
iodine solution over the broken surface once and allow to dry
Do not attempt to wash the wound.
Apply a sterilized dressing.

for Burns: Managing a victim of electric shock.
The following procedure may be adopted to help a victim of
electric shock
Switch off the current at the main or pull out the plug. If
you cannot do this, push the victim clear with something insulated such as a
wooden chair or broom handle.
Don’t touch the victim, until the current is broken.
If the victim is unconscious, open his airway and check the
breathing. Complete the ABC priorities if necessary. Treat any burns and watch
for a sign of a shock if the Vitim is conscious.
Get medical help or take the victim to a hospital.
